Imagine the impact in the Kingdom of God. The impact in the Body of Christ. In the city of Colorado Springs. In the Pikes Peak re- gion & the state of Colorado. In Heaven. In the lives of the people He longs to redeem

Our Vision : Christians in the 21st century doing what Christians were doing in the first century : serving!

Not because we want to copy the first century church, but because they were doing what Jesus and His disciples were doing: carrying out God's mandate for serving His neighbors (our neighbors) the poor, the downtrodden, the under-served ... into the Kingdom of God. Imagine if we got off our pews and onto our knees.

Question ... If Jesus launched a church in Colorado Springs, what would it look like? What would His congregation be known for here in town?

Well, we imagine it'd look a lot like the first twelve disciples and the churches they planted. Servants traveling through their communities looking for places where they could bring restoration to a broken people in a broken world. Servant communities focused not not inwardly on themselves, but outwardly on the needs of others: the poor, the downtrodden, the under-served ... those in need of healing, those in need of wholeness, those in need of restoration, those in need!

If Jesus flew into [Colorado Springs] tomorrow morning, and if He had an 8- hour layover before His next departing flight, what would He do with those eight hours?

Our answer: Based on history, we can imagine Him on His knees serving folks in the [Colorado Springs] airport for a couple of hours. Then, considering what He did daily 1,975 years ago, we can imagine Him hitch- hiking or walking towards some under-served neighborhood(s) in town, and, as He spots believers and unbelievers along the way, He points to them and issues the age- old command / invitation, "Follow Me!" (Some will, most won't.) Then, upon arriving at His destination neighborhood, we can envision Him turning to us followers and instructing us to follow Him to our knees in service to the poor, the downtrodden, the broken, the disenfranchised.

Evangelicals are accused of being (1) too political (too agenda-oriented: anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-same-sex-marriage, etc.) and (2) too hypocritical (not living up to the standards we preach.) Yet research shows that people actually like Jesus today, they just do not like the church. Why?

Why do people like Jesus? Because He was inclusive, loving, serving, encouraging, accepting, compassionate. He DID things for the benefit of others. He was all about being "a man for others" (albeit with an "ulterior" ... Kingdom ... motive.) And, carrying on His example, first century followers of Christ had, generally, a similarly spectacular reputation. "Not only do they care for their own," wrote secular historians, "but they care for ours as well." We see that early Christians followed the lead of their Founder. They SERVED people into the Kingdom of God. Today we are perceived as self-centered "get-out-of-Hell-card-seekers" who don't really care about or for our communities, or even our immediate neighbors (except to proselytize them, they perceive.)

Imagine if that all changed and we stopped being perceived as a self-centered religious "holy huddle" and became, instead and again, the loving, serving people of God. Well, you can help make that happen.
